Find a view and enjoy it – from the shade
Enjoy the weather with some time outdoors from shaded, cooler areas. If you can’t find shade, plan your outdoor activities during the early morning or evening hours when it’s cooler outside. If it’s just not summer without the sun, wear loose, light colors, hats and sunglasses.

Pack a personalized picnic
With a weakened immune system comes added dangers during summer picnic season. You can still enjoy family cookouts and social situations, though, by packing your own personal picnic. This will help you avoid potentially dangerous situations where germs might be spread from other guests who are also enjoying the summer spread.

Treat yourself to something cold
As a cancer patient or survivor, you could be at a higher risk for dehydration. Treat yourself to frozen sorbets, cold smoothies or water-rich fruits to stay cool and hydrated. Drink plenty of fluids and head inside if you start to feel lightheaded or too hot. Enjoy a popsicle or two as well, it’s the summer after all!

Find new activities and relax!
Fatigue can be a major side affect of cancer treatment. Listen to your body and know when to rest. Find new hobbies or seek out new activities, like going to the drive-in, or people watching-fun things that require less energy. Get a hammock for the back porch, book regular massages, start a reading list!

You’ll be surprised what fun a slower approach to summer can be-
