This November marks one year since Tennessee Oncology began providing world-class cancer care in Johnson City. Under the leadership of Dr. Jamal Maatouk and Dr. Teresa Lord, our 30-member care team has brought compassionate and state-of-the-art cancer care to the East Tennessee community – providing patients and their families with care options close to home that weren’t available only a few years ago.
Tennessee Oncology remains deeply committed to expanding access to advanced cancer care across East Tennessee. This year we opened a new cancer care clinic in Morristown led by Dr. Mailien Rogers, an East Tennessee native. The clinic offers comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services, including access to the latest innovative therapies from Tennessee Oncology’s network.
We also celebrated the opening of a new clinic in Alcoa, expanding access to high-quality cancer care for patients living in Knoxville and surrounding communities. The Alcoa clinic became Tennessee Oncology’s latest medical oncology and hematology location across Tennessee and North Georgia where Dr. Esha Cannon and Dr. David Chism, both experienced hematologists and oncologists with deep roots in the region, care for patients at this clinic.
Looking ahead, Tennessee Oncology, which treats nearly half of the cancer patients in the Volunteer State, will continue to expand access to care in East Tennessee in 2026 with the opening of a new clinic in Kingsport.
Dr. Natalie Dickson, Tennessee Oncology’s President and CEO said: “Our physicians and caregivers in Johnson City, and across East Tennessee, embody Tennessee Oncology’s mission of bringing world-class cancer care close to home. It is a true privilege to serve these communities, and I am deeply grateful for our teams’ dedication and for the trust our patients place in us to walk beside them through every step of their cancer journey.”
