Jeff Patton, MD, Tennessee Oncology, CEO,
OneOncology, President of Physician Services
Happy fall everyone.
I know, I know, I just can’t help myself. Every year come spring, I say I love spring the best and then come fall I declare my love for fall. Surely I’m not alone in this seasonal inconsistency. But one thing I feel certain where we can all agree, if you like four seasons, Tennessee is one of the trophy states for that.
On the home front I’m happy to report the Patton family is doing well, everyone will be here for Thanksgiving, making it a favorite weekend of the year and key contributor to my love of fall in Tennessee.
Live Town Hall Visits
I had a fantastic time doing 32 live town hall visits last month, both in the clinics and at corporate. It was great getting out and connecting with everyone to both listen and discuss the employee engagement survey as well as OneOncology. Kathy and I are scheduled to visit all 4 clinics in East Tennessee in November. Please hold me to continue scheduling these enlightening visits with all of you at our great locations more frequently. What an enjoyable and rewarding experience- I have so much respect for each and every one of you, who have helped make Tennessee Oncology what it is today.
Optimism and Teamwork
Due to all this activity I am behind on my blogs so this month I will cover two of our values. First, optimism and I love this quote.
“Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement.
Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.”
Helen Keller
Our standards for optimism are:
We will be solution-minded and accommodative when addressing requests.
We will assume positive intent in others’ actions and words.
We will welcome feedback and suggestions.
The second value is teamwork. I’m an Auburn fan but admire this quote.
“If anything goes bad, I did it. If anything goes semi-good, we did it.
If anything goes really good, then you did it.”
Bear Bryant
Healthcare is now a team sport and together we can provide so much better care than we could as individuals.
Our standard for teamwork is:
We will promote cooperation and collaboration and use the pronouns “We/Us/Our.”
Thank you again for your valuable feedback regarding our employee engagement survey. We plan to share the highlights, as well as our plans for continual improvement, based upon your input, in the very near future.
Until then, enjoy the season!
Jeff
