The Chattanoogan
Tennessee Oncology has finalized its merger with Chattanooga Oncology & Hematology Associates (COHA). This merger creates one of the largest networks of physician-owned oncology practices in the nation. The Chattanooga practice has been renamed Tennessee Oncology.
Tennessee Oncology is the largest oncology practice in the state, and with this merger, expands its network outside of middle Tennessee with four new locations, 13 physicians, and nearly 100 additional employees in Chattanooga and Northwest Georgia.
“We take great pride in our merger with a highly respected oncology practice like COHA. Our continued growth and expansion is the exception among independent Oncologists. Physician-owned practices like Tennessee Oncology are increasingly rare despite proven lower cost of care to cancer patients in community practices compared to hospital systems,” said Tennessee Oncology CEO Jeff Patton, M.D.
“There are many fine health systems in our region, but we remain committed to the value and unique collaboration of a physician-owned practice. Becoming one of the largest independent oncology practices in the country is a testament to our patient commitment and caliber of physicians and staff.”
