“Cancer treatment plans can be complex and require multispecialty care,” said Michael Howard, chief of Medical Physics at Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Parkridge Medical Center. “With the expansion of our collaboration with Tennessee Oncology, we now have medical oncologists and radiation oncologists on one campus, creating a more seamless treatment process for patients in our communities.”

The services provided at Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Parkridge Medical Center include external beam therapy, intensity-modulated radiation therapy, stereotactic body radiation therapy and stereotactic radiosurgery. The facility is also the only cancer center in the area that offers intraoperative radiation therapy, according to officials.

“Tennessee Oncology is dedicated to finding and offering a cure for cancer, and Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute gives us the tools to do so,” said Marcus Wagner, MD, radiation oncologist with Tennessee Oncology. “Through this partnership, we are able to provide top-tier services that are comparable to any institution in the country.”

“The partnership leverages the extensive networks to which each organization belongs – providing patients with access to innovative treatment options close to home. Tennessee Oncology and Sarah Cannon are two of the largest community-based cancer care organizations in the country. Sarah Cannon, the Cancer Institute of HCA Healthcare, offers integrated cancer services with convenient access to cutting-edge therapies for those facing cancer in communities across the United States and United Kingdom,” officials said.

“Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Parkridge Medical Center has long benefitted from the excellent care provided by Tennessee Oncology specialists,” said Tom Ozburn, president and CEO of Parkridge Health. “Forging a stronger partnership with Tennessee Oncology allows Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Parkridge Medical Center to offer treatment opportunities not currently available in the Chattanooga area.”
