Tennessee Oncology Chosen To Present Six Posters at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Quality of Care Symposium in San Diego, California.

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Oncology (TO) physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and administrators will be presenting six recent quality improvement projects at the American Society of Clinical Oncology Quality of Care Symposium in San Diego, CA. These projects were selected through peer-review by a panel of national experts in cancer care. Each poster addresses unique Tennessee Oncology initiatives aimed at improving quality of care and patient experience throughout our centers and communities served.

The six posters address the following topics:

  1. Care coordination for oral oncolytics through pharmacy integration and cycle 1-day 1 documentation.
  2. Impact of community practice on providing in-patient oncology and hematology consults via telemedicine to remote rural hospital.
  3. Launch of telemedicine in community oncology practice.
  4. Partnership with an independent genetic counselor and standardized screening: Effect on the identification, referral, and genetic testing of eligible patients in a community oncology clinic.
  5. Reducing ED visits by “closing the loop” for symptomatic patients.
  6. Understanding the challenges for oncologists in predicting the end-of-life phase of care  in cancer patients with advanced solid tumor diagnoses.
